God is Coming!

“God is coming! God is coming!
All the element we swim in, this existence,
Echoes ahead the advent.
God is coming! Can’t you feel it?”

– Walter Wangerin Jr.

The excitement in this statement is contagious!  There is this inner motivation to act like a five year old anticipating Christmas morning! While I read this quote, I noticed the song that came on my iTunes playlist, “Waiting Here for You” by Christy Nockels. It is not a Christmas song, but the words apply so beautifully.

If faith can move the mountains
Let the mountains move
We come with expectation
Waiting here for you, I’m waiting here for you

You’re the Lord of all creation
And still you know my heart
The Author of Salvation
You’ve loved us from the start

 Waiting here for You
With our hands lifted high in praise
And it’s You we adore
Singing Alleluia

 You are everything You’ve promised
Your faithfulness is true
And we’re desperate for Your presence
All we need is You

Waiting here for You
With our hands lifted high in praise
And it’s You we adore
Singing Alleluia

Emmanuel, God with us.

He is with us always and we have the joy of ushering in His Son anew this Christmas! Take notice of God’s presence in your life. Thank Him for what He has done for you this past year and the mighty things He will do for you in 2014!

God is coming! Can’t you feel it?

Come

Come, Thou long expected Jesus
Born to set Thy people free
From our fears and sins release us
Let us find our rest in Thee

Israel’s strength and consolation

Hope of all the earth
Thou art Dear desire of every nation
Joy of every longing heart

Born Thy people to deliver
Born a child and yet a king
Born to reign in us forever
Now Thy gracious kingdom bring

By Thine own eternal Spirit
Rule in all our hearts alone
By Thine own sufficient merit
Raise us to Thy glorious throne

Written By: James Furman, Charles Wesley

Will you invite Christ in this day?  Are you anticipating His birth, His peace, His love?

To be honest, the invitation will change your life! Once Christ comes in, He will completely change your perspective. You will be able to obtain the joy and peace each and every one of us needs.

Are you ready? It is the best decision you will ever make!

Now, just say to Jesus…

“Come.”

The Anticipation

“Advent, meaning “the coming,” is a time when we wait expectantly.

Christians began to celebrate it as a season during the fourth and fifth centuries. Like Mary, we celebrate the coming of the Christ child, what God has already done. And we wait in expectation of the full coming of God’s reign on earth and for the return of Christ, what God will yet do.

But this waiting is not a passive waiting. It is an active waiting. As any expectant mother knows, this waiting also involves preparation, exercise, nutrition, care, prayer, work; and birth involves pain, blood, tears, joy, release, community. It is called labor for a reason.

Likewise, we are in a world pregnant with hope, and we live in the expectation of the coming of God’s kingdom on earth. As we wait, we also work, cry, pray, ache; we are the midwives of another world.” *

As we join together in waiting…anticipating…let us not grow stagnant in our faith, but seek out ways we can actively give of ourselves and enjoy this Christmas Advent season.

Angels Announcing the Birth of Christ to the Shepherds

Angels we have on heard high
Sweetly singing ore the plains
And the mountains in reply

Echoing their joyous strains

Gloria in excelsis Deo

Gloria in excelsis Deo

Come to Bethlehem and see
Christ whose birth the angels sing
Come adore on bended knee

Christ the Lord the newborn King

Gloria in excelsis Deo
Gloria in excelsis Deo

See him in a manger laid
Whom the choirs of angels praise

Mary, Joseph, lend your aid

While our hearts in love we raise

Gloria in excelsis Deo
Gloria in excelsis Deo

Gloria in excelsis Deo
